Jacob Leuze

Jacob Leuze joined the firm as an attorney in 2021. His practice is concentrated in a variety of matters, including business and real estate transactions, corporate formation and organization, and association law. Jacob earned his Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law, where he graduated with honors. Jacob attended the University of Florida where he completed his bachelor’s degree in finance and a master’s degree in entrepreneurship. Jacob understands the needs of a client encompass more than the legal world and provides services that align with both the legal and business needs of his clients. As a 30A local for over two decades, Jacob enjoys the small-town community that Walton County provides. Jacob also enjoys the beach, trying new foods and restaurants, and playing golf. Education:

• Contract preparation, review and negotiation, including consulting agreements, supply agreements, distribution agreements, management agreements, licenses, indemnity agreements and rental agreements, among others.
• Purchase and sale of businesses and joint venture agreements, including drafting and negotiating confidentiality agreements, letters of intent, due diligence review and drafting, review and negotiation of purchase and joint venture agreements and ancillary documents.
• Employment and severance, including preparation and negotiation of employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, non-competition agreements, confidentiality agreements, incentive plans and agreements, and severance agreements.
• Financing and capital raising, including preparation, review and negotiation of loan documents, private placement memorandum, subscription agreements, contribution agreements and local legal opinions.
• Corporate governance and fiduciary duties, including advising directors and officers and preparing minutes.
• Trademark registration.

Laken Kirkland

Laken is a Florida Registered Paralegal with experience in a broad range of transactional matters, including entity formation and organization, corporate governance, securities and financing, business transactions and planning, contract preparation and negotiation, and intellectual property protection.

Laken obtained her degree in Paralegal Studies from Athens Technical College in 2014 and became a Florida Registered Paralegal in 2016.

Outside of the office, Laken enjoys the beach, personal fitness, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Kirby H. Williams

Kirby is a real estate attorney board certified by The Florida Bar as a specialist in real estate law and licensed to practice in both Alabama and Florida. Kirby’s mission is to give sound, yet practical, legal advice to his clients-all while doing his best to be readily available to his clients. His practice areas include real estate financing, commercial and residential real estate transactions and real estate development. Prior to joining Barker Williams, Kirby worked with the law firm of Clark, Partington, Hart, Larry, Bond & Stackhouse in Florida and the law firm of Ruston, Stakely, Johnston & Garrett in Alabama. In addition, Kirby served as senior counsel for The St. Joe Company one of Florida’s leading real estate developers. During his spare time, Kirby enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his wife Mary Blake and 3 children Betsy, Mac and James. Kirby’s passions include serving the Twelve Churches Mission with his family in Nicaragua and supporting other local and overseas missions.
